Disney on Ice is back again this winter, and this year – the celebration is even more special! With Walt Disney’s legacy now reaching the century mark, this year’s performance showcases all the greatest hits! As ensemble cast member Tricia DeFelice of Ocean City, NJ says, “Our show incorporates a little bit of everything,” making it a great choice for families of all ages.
Princess lovers get their fill with appearances by Cinderella, Rapunzel, Ariel, Snow White and Tiana. Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Mulan have special numbers. Anna and Elsa continue to delight with Frozen. But this show isn’t just about these classics.
In 100 Years of Magic, audiences get to see Finding Dory, Toy Story, Pinocchio, and The Lion King! And of course, Mickey and friends get some extra special love in the show 😊 .
It’s cliché to say, but there’s just an element of magic attached to anything Disney that’s hard to adequately describe. Disney stories pluck you out of real life and place you into fantasy worlds that make you smile, laugh, and feel like everything is okay – even despite adversities along the way. Movies are wonderful, but this show (like other live performances) bring an element of realism that can’t be experienced through a screen. And that level of immersion is truly special.
DeFelice is no stranger to this magic, and her connection to the show goes an extra level. Going to Disney on Ice was a winter family tradition as she would watch an extra special performer – her mother. And now she finds herself a part of the group (catch her as Jessie from Toy Story in particular). She commented that, “It’s one of those shows that you seem to be so connected with because you’re so connected to the Disney show. You get to experience it through the skater.” With cast members projecting such positivity for their role, you know you’re bound to experience a great show.
As a parent, I get a real kick out of seeing my kids get excited for the Disney stories I grew up with (though I admit that The Lion King has often been retitled “Kion’s Dad” in our house 😉). 100 Years of Magic is exciting because parents and kids all have moments in the show to be excited. This makes this particular show unique.
100 Years of Magic comes to the CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton, NJ and runs from January 3 – January 6, 2019. Tickets start at just $12! Be sure to scoop yours up soon!
